    1. Reynolds Saw Mill 1864

    3. Harris just sent me an interesting piece and this raises the question of the Reynolds Saw Mill. This indicates that the one near Reynolds was a "steam saw mill".... 1864. Does anyone have an idea of who the owner might have been? In my deeds, there was a sawmill mentioned in the vicinity of Panhandle on the Railroad which was west of Reynolds which sounds like it may be the one, unless there were several sawmills around there? (I've included those abstracts below) Andersonville Prison piece - Southern Historical Papers never heard. How was it possible to saw timber into planks without saw-mills? There were two water-power mills distant three and six miles respectfully, but such rude primitive affairs undeserving the name. The nearest steam saw-mill was twenty-three miles distant (near Smithville), the next at Reynolds, about fifty miles distant; but the great bulk of the lumber used, fully two-thirds, was brought from Gordon, a distance of eighty miles. ..... =========== pg 292 27 Jan 1853 Joseph H.
