My Sept Tracer arrived! The Society is raising money to relocate the General John B. Gordon overseer's house. This is a big project for them! The local people could really use our help. It is hoped that this would bring visitors to Taylor County. The move alone will cost $10,000.00. One of the interesting features in the photo is a dinner bell that is as tall as the house! It is thought this could probably be heard all the way to the Flint River. Featured this month is a continuation of the 59th Regiment and its story during 1863. (More will continue in future months). The Theus family had 7 brothers in Company C of this unit, and there are photos the four of them who died during the war. The rest of the bulletin covers articles from The Butler Heradl, July 1911 - Dec 1911. There is a photo of the Courthouse and also the Dean Hotel & Coffee Shop. Does anyone remember these? Mr. Adams is looking for history of this hotel. Remember to keep passing this along to friends who might want to join and help support the Society. Contact your local Library and see if they will subscribe. Each issue covers so much of the surrounding counties in the write-ups from the newspapers -- so it is definitely not just about Taylor County. Virginia
