John (Jeremiah?) McCants Arrived from Larne, Ireland aboard the ship the Lord Dunlace in 12/1772 at Charles Town SC. He was a REV. Soldier and he died after 1813 in Fairfield Co., SC He married twice, first wife unknown. Second wife Mrs. Sarah (Black) Hamilton 1813-Jan 14- Will of John McCant's Fairfield dist. I john McCants of the state of SC and Fairfield dist being at this present time in a low circumstance and condition of h ealth, but of a sound and perfect memory thanks be to God for the same calling to mind the mortality of al men, do at this present time form constitute order and appoint this my last will and testament in manner and form; following: I reccomend my soul unto the alwise disposal of almighty God that gave it to me. Secondly I order my body to be buried after the form of Christian burial and after my funeral charges and all, my lawful debts are discharged and paid I dispose of all my worldy substance that the almighty be pleased to beget? to me with in the manner and form as follows: Item first: I do will and bequeath unto my four youngest sons Alexander, George, Jerimiah, Andr. also my three daughters Mary, Margaret and Rosey and also my beloved wife Sarah the whole use and benefit of my plantation negroes and stock of every kind in order to raise the afores aid children on; my wife aforesaid to be Equally bennifited by the aforesaid estate while she remains my widow-should she marrey then and in that case the whole to remain for the use and benefit of my aforesaid named sons and daughters at the descrition of my executors hereafter to be mentioned after my youngest son becomes of age. I will and bequeath to Alexander, George, Jeremiah and Andr; one hundred and fifty acres of land adjoining Samuel McCants land to be equally devided between the aforesaid children-as to the personal property; when the aforesaid youngest child comes of age I do will and bequeath that is to say my beloved wife is to have the use and beiefit of a negro woman named Silve during her widowhood. Should the aforesaid wench bread (Breed) I will and bequeath her offspring to my beloved children before mentioned each of them a Negro; begining at the oldest chld. Excepting the present boy child that Silvey has capped Sip which said negro boy I do will and bequeath to my son Alexander. The balance I do will as before mentioned begining with my oldest daughter and so on with the whole provided wheir should be negro children enough for each of them one. A negro girl named Fanney and all the stock which may be on hand at the time of my youngest child comes of age I do will and bequeath to the whole of my children and wife provided she shall remain a widow so long. That is to say Robert, Samuel, John, William, Alexander, George, Jeremiah and Andr. Jim, Amy, Sarah, Lidiah, Mary, Margaret & Rosey to be equally divided among them as aforesaid, and one hundred acres of land adj. John Kelley. at the time of the children being raised I do will and bequeath the aforesaid land to my son William McCants. The hundred acre where the house stands with all the improvements I will and bequeth to my three youngest daughters when the youngest child comes of age or when they are raised lastly; I do conclude this my last will and testament as abovee constituting and apointing William McCants my son and Abner Ross as my lawful executors to the same revoking and disannulling a former writing of the kind declaring this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this 14 Day of January AD 1813.
