If any of you have created web pages about your ancestors in Taylor County, do let me know so I can get them posted. ========================= Randy Carpenter's photos: http://www.cc.gatech.edu/gvu/people/faculty/randy.carpenter/taylor If you haven't already, be sure to visit Randy's page and see all the photos that he has posted. They include: Historical Markers (It would be nice to get the words off those by the way!!) Monuments Churches Schools Views of Reynolds and Butler ============= Remember how interested I am in the Peach History of Taylor County and the little town of Bonita? My eye picked this up in the May "Taylor Tracer": May, 1898 newspaper Mr. O.T. Montfort made a shipment of ripe peaches to Macon last week from his young orchard in Butler. They were of the Sneed variety and of a fine flavor. This is pershaps a first shipment in the State and shows conclusively that peaches can be grown and ripened in the sandy land of Butler earlier than elsewhere. The crop this season will be very fine and probably several cars will be shipped from this section. Makes my mouth water just reading about it!! ========= Things have been kinda slow in Taylor County, but I hope to come up with some more new ideas. Please share any new finds that you've uncovered!
