Morrison of Reynolds, was crowned king of the lightweight class in pugilism at the Citizens Military Training Camp recently. Young Morrison has the distinction of being champion of his training camp two successive seasons and in addition to the two championship medals also won a medal on the rifle range. We are proud of Joe and predict for him a fine future in the ring. Mr. Morrison has three fighting sons, Jimmie, Joe and L.C., Jr. Jimmie is a finished boxer and a good boy in the ring. Joe about whom we have been talking is a shifty and hard hitting boy and promises well. L.C. is the baby and not very big but can box well and is not afraid to go to it. The people who know them enjoy seeing these boys box and wish them well. Accompanying the picture was the following comment: "Miss Minnie Stanford Montfort, beautiful daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.P.(or F) Montfort of Atlanta, Georgia, who has just graduated from Girls High School with honors." Miss Montfort secured her early educational training in the Reynolds High School, leaving this institution in the ninth grade when her parents moved to Atlanta. It is a source of pride to Reynolds citizens and particularly to the school officials, to know that Miss Montfort has pursued her school work with such honors and distinction. In charge of Rev. W.O. Williams, the troop consists of the following boys: Chesley Marshall, Sammie Liggin, Paul Hollis, Jack Weaver, Dorsey Whittington, Billie Neisler, Weaver Crawford, Robert Newsome, Edward Goddard, John Henry Windham, Albert Carter, Robert Mathews, Hughlan Chapman. The boys are having a grand time, swiming, fishing and in the camp. They are camping on the (their?) own. No hired help of any kind. Every one does his own cooking and they look after their own tents. We would like to have any friends come to see us, but don't come too soon. Last night some of them thought that the moonshine was day-light and got up at one o'clock. They worst news is that a dog stole all of Sammie Liggins meat last night. More news later. The scribe. It is presumed that the shooting was done by Morris Palmer, another negro, as they had had some words Sunday afternoon, and a piece of Palmer's tie and tie clasp and a song book belonging to him were found near the dead body. Several bullets pierced his body and up until this time Palmer has not been located. An inquest was held Monday morning. Palmer conducted prayer meeting services at the negro church Sunday night and the shooting occured immediately after the services closed, and was discovered by negroes going home from church. My great-grandfather, Joseph Robinson, came to Hamilton, Georgia about 1830 from North Carolina. He had twelve children, eight boys and four girls, among them was Jasper Davis Robinson, my grandfather. Jasper Robinson served as a lieutenant in the War Between the States, 1861- 1865. After returning from the war he served two terms as Sheriff of Harris County. In 1876 Jasper D. Robinson married Susan Irvin, daughter of Josiah Irvin, who came to Harris from Wilkes County. He served two years as tax-collector of Harris County. Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Robinson had six children, among them was my mother, Mary Robinson. On my mother's side I am distantly related to Joseph E. Robinson, who ran for Vice President of the United States against Curtis in 1928. He is now U.S. Senator from Arkansas. Now on my paternal side. My grandfather James Sanders Lunsford moved to Webster from Monroe, Georgia. James S. Lunsford married Molly Fletcher in 1877. On my father's side I am related to Senator Fletcher of Florida. Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Lunsford had seven children, six boys and one girl. Two boys and the girl died at a very early age. Grandfather died of thyphoid fever at the age of 38 leaving a widow and four boys, the youngest was only a few years old. These boys worked and the three youngest sent the elder J.J. Lunsford to Georgia Medical College. He has been President of the Third District Medical Association. The second boy, J.L. Lunsford did not go to college but studied telegraphy and is now trainmaster of the Southern Railroad, Knoxville Division, Knoxville, Tennessee. The brothers helped G.S. Lunsford go through Medical College at Augusta. He practiced medicine for several years and then went into the health work. He has been master of the Third Congressional District Masonic Convention, and now holds a Grand Office in the Grand Lodge of Georgia, and in seven more years he will be Grand Master. The brothers continued their work by helping each other, and sent the younger, J.R. Lunsford to Mercer Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1909. He served in the Georgia Senate in 1919-20. He was County Clerk and attorney for twelve years. He was Worshipful Master of the Fourth District Masonic Convention. He married Mary Robinson in 1913.
