Hi Rem. That's why I was wondering where the info. came from showing Quinea O'Neal as a Confederate Soldier. I have seen his tombstone and it's very clear that he was in the War of 1812. Unfortunately his tombstone inscription only gives his year of death. But I have some census records that show him as age 56 in 1850, age 64 in 1860, age 70 in 1870 and age 86 in 1880. So an estimated age of about 65-66 in 1861 is pretty old to go to war. "Taliaferro County History" by the Historical Society, shows him as Clerk of the Superior Court 1/23/1862. (I don't know for sure but I'm thinking that's when his term began?) In addition, he is witnessing deeds in Taliaferro Co. in 1861, 1862 and 1863. Although I guess not impossible, I agree with you that it's doubtful he served in the Confederate Army. Thanks very much. Rhoda
