    1. 1830 CENSUS - Mercer and Andrews
    2. Terri. It's too bad you never knew Don Mercer. He died several years before you began your Taliferro County reserach. Don was the ultimate expert on the Mercer family. He sent me that obituary of Hermon Mercer because my gr.gr. grandaunt, Elizabeth Darracott, was his third wife. (It was her second marriage.) I love the opening sentence "Hermon Mercer is no more!" The people who wrote those old obituaries were certainly dramatic. He also sent me Elizabeth's obituary and both are posted in the Taliaferro County Archives Obituary section. Regarding Marcus Andrews, as you know, his wife Ann Connell, was my gr.gr. grandmother through her second marriage to William H. Chapman. I have researched the Marcus Andrews family quite thoroughly and you are mistaken that he only had one son. If you will look at the census records I just posted for him, you will see that he had two sons and two daughters. However I can only account for the two sons and one daughter. (1) John William Andrews, b. ca. 1821, d. 1866, (2) Frances Elizabeth Andrews, died Oct. 30, 1847, and (3) Dr. James Thomas Andrews, b. Jan. 31, 1830, died after 1880. Maggie Andrews who married
