Since I don't know very much about Taliaferro County, I hoped that working together we might share some ideas. I think that some of the Creeks used the names of early Pioneers -- so this would be significant to our study. We know that the waterway was essential to early residents -- grist mills, source of water, traveling before roads established?. I took the GNIS list of waterways/streams and arranged it by the "community" or QUAD name used by GNIS. On their pages, you can click on the Topzone maps to see the actual topographical map of the area. The QUAD name is confusing to me, because I don't always recognize the significance of it. I'm not real good at working with these maps, so if someone can give us some better hints. It seems you need to know the area first before you can actually know what part of the county it really is.
