Mame Bird (1906 - 1982) never married. Buried near her parents, William Wiley Bird and Katie Linton Hammack in The City Cemetery in Crawfordville. I have been researching this Bird history for some time and have come across many descendants of this family in Crawfordville. If you are related I can share documents discovered in the Court house and from family members. Miss Emmie Kate Bristow is spending several days with her sister, Mrs. T. D. Wooten in Lumber City. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Chew, Mrs. J. R. Asbury, and Mrs. A. G. Golucke have returned from a visit to Kingsport, Tenn. Mrs A. G. Golucke was the former Miss Carolyn Reid, daughter of William Reddon Reid and Kate Lovelace Gee Bet. 1929 - 1931 Ordinary in Taliaferro County Office. She married Alvin Gordon Golucke, son of Charles Herman Golucke and Annie Roberts (per Josie Birds notes and Taliaferro County records) Their graves can be found in the City Cemetery of Crawfordville. Judge and Mrs. Horace Holden, Miss Queenie Holden and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holden were week-end guests of Mrs. A. H. Beazley. Prof. W. F. Gunn and family, of Carrollton, are expected in a few days to visit Mr. Gunn’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Gunn. (Thomas Oliver Gunn March 1868 - 1938) Amanda S Buel 1860 - 1943 married October 13, 1881 per court house records and Cemetery records, Taliaferro County. Mr. Jamie Phelps and mother, Mrs. Percy Phelps, of Augusta, were recent visitors to relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wallace, of Rutledge, spent a part of the week with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Melton. (Andrew J Melton 1866 - 1941 Crawfordville Cemetery married December 09, 1891 to Inez Smith 1873 - 1966) Taliaferro County records and cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Smith, of Swainsboro, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Park. Mr. and Mrs. U. S. Gunn had as their guests during the past week Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Howard, of Lithonia, and Mr. and Mrs. Hamp Alford of Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Summers of Phoenix, Ariz. spent Sunday with them Mr. and Mrs. Rastus Rider and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brake, of Washington, were guests of relatives here Sunday. Mr and Mrs Brake census 1920, 601 dist, Taliaferro Co., GA on Railroad Street, next door to Elishia Moore. Mrs. Maggie Andrews Brake's father was Dr. James T. Andrews, a prominent physician serving the Powelton community. Mr and Mrs J. T. Andrews are buried in the Powelton Community Cemetery , Powelton GA Mrs. Brake (1863 - 1949) won many prizes with her gardening, especially Chrysanthiums. (records per Josie Bird, her grandparents. Mr and Mrs Brake are buried in the City Cemetery in Crawfordville) Miss Ruth Rothell of Wrens, was the guest of Miss Mary Leila Chapman this week. Miss Bonnie Dorsey, of Atlanta, is visiting her sister, Mrs. B. R. Trotter ( The Taliaferro County History book and Cook Book Writ by Hand have many stories of the Chapmans. Miss Jane Chapman, I am added a conversation below that she and I covered, Jane donated many Chapman artifacts to the Historical Society, her father Walter Oscar Chapman operated the Chapman funeral Home, miniature golf course and barbecue bit. From a quote from the Writ by Hand cookbook, "Walter was known to have the best barbecue in town." This sight was also the sight of the bottling plant for Coca Cola. Hope this helps someone
