I"m so delighted to report that I have heard from two people regarding two of the cemeteries I posted yesterday -- Howell, and King (Rev Soldier) We plan to work on brief bios for each of these men. I think that creating a simple outline of a person's life is sometimes the easiest way to have people really identify if this is "their man". I also think this is a way to honor our ancestors. You don't need to be some important Judge or Captain to deserve a bio --- everyone who lived in this county contributed in some way to its history. I'd be glad to work with anyone on this. I don't make them elaborate, but since I've worked with lots of people already in other counties on creating something like this, please, don't hesitate to let me work on one with you. What I've learned about Taliaferro County is that there are many inter-related families. So when we list daughters we just may make an important connection with another family that is already posted on-line. That's the fun of genealogy -- the missing pieces coming together! And I like nothing more than lending a helping hand. Virginia Crilly

There are at least two graves at this site, one of which is identified by Omer Reid, Fannie Shorter, Sallie Reid, Norman Shorter and others who live in the Battery Community as the grave of Frank M. Jones who died about 1927. This man came to Taliaferro County in 1917 and lived in the home of Jack Parker on the Margarets Grove Road south of Margarets Grove Church. It is believed by all the old residents of Battery Community that Frank M. Jones was an assumed name for the assassin of President McKinley. No other graves at this site have been identified. Mr. Omer Reid says that this is known as the King Place or the King cemetery but he doesn't know any of the Kings connected with the place.

Please note the following correction to the census records just posted for Johnson and Lucinda Woodall. In the 1850 census, the last child listed, Lavisa, was 10 months old, not 10 years old. Thanks, Rhoda

I'm looking for information on Elizabeth Taylor, who married (1) James Cox, March 7, 1833, Taliaferro Co., and (2) Mr. Rainwater. Elizabeth was widowed by 1850 and is found in the 1850 Taliaferro Co. census living with her brother, Littleberry Taylor. She is age 40 and with her is her 3 year old son, Alexander Cox. Sometime after 1850 she married Mr. Rainwater. I am trying to find Mr. Rainwater's given name and the marriage date. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Rhoda
