Talbotton New Era - Friday, Sept. 7, 2001 Eddie "Hut" Searcy Dec. 24, 1926 - Aug. 23, 2001 Funeral services were held for Eddie "Hut" Searcy Friday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Talbotton with Pastor, Rev. F. R. Smith officiating. Again, an angel was dispersed from heaven on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Doctor's Hospital in Columbus and sealed the lips of a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Those who knew him best, knew him as "Hut." He leaves a legacy of inspriation and love for his family and friends. Mr. Searcy was born in Talbot County to the late Willie and Mary Searcy. At an early age, he united with Shady Grove Baptist church and served faithfully until his health failed. His survivors include a loveing and devoted wife, Mrs. Lillian Searcy, and one daughter Barnette Searcy, both of Talbotton; one brother, Paul (Inez) Searcy of Talbotton; three sisters, Willie Mae Searcy, Gladys (Roosevelt) Gaines, Mary (Ike) Benney all of Talbotton; four grandchildren, Pamela Searcy, Kent (Exzeter) Searcy, Taneshia Searcy and April Searcy, all of Talbotton; four great-grandchildren, Kenchelvis, Zai Dion, Kenyan'nda and Xavier; one godson, Raymond Walton; a special niece, Betty Jo Hall whom he raised as his daughter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two devoted friends Joe Thomas and Willie Wilson.
