It could be a nickname. I think the one census I found him in said W. G. Walter and Willie are names that have also been attributed to him. I found my family in the 1900 census in Grayson Co. TX. W. G. was born June 12, 1840 in GA and died in 1909. His wife was Mary born on May 9, 1839 in GA and died in 1918. Children were: Jessie R. b 1860 AL John b. 1862 AL Simon b. 1866 AL Fransanna b. 1870 LA Lecurtia b. 1871 LA Charles Virgil, my ggrandfather, b. 1875 LA Acey, b 1879 LA (1900 census shows him living next door to Charlie in Grayson Co.) m.
