Woodall, Miss Mattie Ozburn and Miss Helen Dell, high school, and Miss Mattie Woodall, Miss Blanche Dell and Miss Ella Maund, grammer grades. Professional golfer, giving lessons to a very distinguished gentleman: "Before hitting the ball, will your highness kindly endeavor to keep highness' stomach in?" The home of Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Graham in Talbotton caught fire Saturday night. It was extinguished before much damage was done. William H. Brannon of Talbotton died at City Hospital in Columbus Sunday afternoon. He is survived by his wife and six children. His wife is the former Miss Emmie Amelia Green. The descendants of S. B. Baldwin and Emily Smith Baldwin held their annual reunion at Warm Springs, honoring the birthday of the only living son, Mr. W. A. Baldwin. In 1918, Valley Grove Church organized its first B.Y.P.U. with the following officers: Lester Griffin, Mrs. J. W. Pye and Willene Webster. Talbotton County Boys Club members S. N. Harris, Lewis Alsobrook, Adrian Braddy, John Russell, Thomas Buchanan, John Hudson, Clarence Jordan and Allen Chapman were the winners in judging various livestock at the District meeting. Chevrolet Motor Co. produced its one millionth car in 1928. Mr. W. B. Hendricks of Hendricksville was surprised with a birthday party last Sunday. Present: Sam Hendricks and family, Lester Hendricks and family, Julian Goolsby and family, Lawrence Goolsby and family, Walter Nelson and family, Mrs. Walter Cason and daughter Geraldine, Dan Hendricks and family, Clyde Garrett and family, Marion Hendricks, H. D. Chapman and family and Rochelle Grant. Mr. Hendricks is 68 year old. Mr. C.Z. Hendricks, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Hendricks, spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Hendricks at Pleasant Hill. Visiting Mr. E. D. Chapman Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. S. E. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Parrott, Messrs. George and Charlie Chapman and Miss Ruth Chapman. School opened Sept. 3rd in Woodland. Sixteen members of the senior class elected the following officers: J. C. Cook, President, Lillian Allen, Vice President; Helen Foster, Secretary/Treasurer, Willie Theo Smith, Reporter and James Buchanan, Associate Reporter. Hon. Jones A. Perryman of Talbotton was elected to the office of Solicitor-General for the Chattahoochee Circuit. Miss Ruth Wakefield of Prattsburg married Mr. Hoye McManus of Ypsilanti and Thomaston on Sept. 9, 1928. The Levert-Collinsworth Literary Society was formed with the following officers: Clarence Jordan, President; Martin McGeehee, Vice President; John Willis, Sec/Treas. Bob Short shot and killed Clarence Searcy of Ypsilanti community. Messrs. L. O. Fryer, Worth McKinney, Misses Pearl O'Neal, Mary O'Neal and Mary McKinney attended the League Union at Junction City Friday night. Miss Grace Freeman of Atlanta, Mr. Charles Nelson of Talbotton and Mr. Ralph Nelson of Woodland visited in Ypsilanti Sunday. Rev. M. M. Pierce concluded revival services at the Methodist Church in Prattsburg. The new members were added to the church roll. Miss Jewell McRae of Raleigh and Mr. Tom Smith of Woodland were married on Oct. 22, 1928. They will live in Manchester. Mr. J. Wood Browning, Jr., and Miss Bernice Purvis were married on Sept. 23, 1928 and will reside in Columbus. Johnny's grandma lived with the family, and seemed to be eternally cold, and constantly complaining. Finally, little Johnny prayed thusly: God, bless Mama and Papa and make me a good boy, and make it hot for Grandma. Misses Montine Baker and Josie Weaver spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Neal Baker at Flint Hill. Mrs. Ella Maxwell, Miss Mattie Maxwell and Mr. William Maxwell of Centerville attended the Searcy-Brown wedding in Butler.
