One of the injured, Helen McGahee, 4 died Tuesday. Macon County Sheriff W.T. Jolly identified the two as Willie Edwin Davis of Oglethorpe and Newton Griffin of Montezuma. The case is still under investigation. Trooper G.C. Reynolds said apparently a car driven by Davis was racing with another auto in which three if the victims were killed. The latter auto smashed head-on into another car on Camp Creek hill about 4 miles south of Oglethorpe on State highway 49. Dead in the accident were: Clarence Gordon Miller, 18, of Butler, identified by Sheriff Jolly as the driver of a 1955 Thunderbird in which Charles Everett Jr., 19 of Macon and Tommy Ragin, 21, of Montezuma also died. Mr. and Mrs. G.W. McGahee died in the 1962 Oldsmobile driven by Mr. McGahee. Passengers in the McGahee car included the 4 year old daughter, a two year old daughter, Charlene, and another couple, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Parrish of Dover, Fla. Macon County Sheriff Jolly said it was the worst wreck in the county since he took office about 32 years ago. The impact tore the body of the Thunderbird from its chassis.
