Israel was the son of John and Mary Ann Hollingsworth. He was born August 01, 1817, Twiggs Co, GA, and died February 08, 1881. He married Diana L. Story, who was born November 27, 1821, in Georgia. She died November 12, 1889, in Pickens Co, AL. They were parents of seven sons: John Thomas; Jonathan Americus, died February 23, 1863, Vicksburg, Miss.; Marion Columbus, my grandfather; Wilkins Monroe; Guston Lafayette; William Jesse; and John Abbot. Israel's middle initial is reported as "I." but I suspect it may have been mistaken during early research because the old time cursive penmanship was not easy to read. One cousin says she was told that his middle name was "Lafayette." I have not found any original written records to confirm either one. I have further information and am willing to share.
