    1. [GATALBOT] Dec issue - The Taylor Tracer
    2. Crilley
    3. My Taylor Tracer arrived yesterday -- just full of interesting articles. Featured this time is the Wesley School located in the northwest section of the county in the community of Wesley. Mr. Adams traces the history through new paper clippings beginning with on in Feb 1890. Also included are several photos of classes (1926,1929,1934) and enrollment for 1926-27. IBetty Gassett Garrard write a delightful story about attending the school in 1947. Even though you may not have relatives directly connected with Wesley School, you do get a very good picture of what school life was like in "those days" in Taylor county. The 1889 newspaper clippings are always interesting. If you had a Masonic ancestor, you may be interested in knowing the Lodge was constituted in 1850 -- and they list the names of those who were dead in 1889 from the membership. If you have done any research in Taylor, you'll recognize so many of those names as leaders in the early days of Taylor County. There are so many personal details mentioned -- and I was so delighted to see the notice of the 2nd marriage of my g-grandfather, James J. Ruffin to Mrs. Carrie Lucas "at the residence of the bride in Panhandle District". I had known the date, but the extra description of so nice to read. There's a detailed account of "The Hanging of Blackman". And I'm sure all of you will have similar experiences. Because of the closeness of the counties, there are frequent referrals to Talbot, Marion, Schley, Crawford in the marriages, deaths, and in some cases actual columns pertaining to the area. Remember this is the time to re-subcribe for the coming year... http://www.rootsweb.com/~gatchgs/index.htm This page gives the details and also you can see the Index to all the back issues -- which are still available from John Adams.
