    2. Tanya, I am a decendent of Jeptha Chambless and am researching the line. I don't know if Jeptha left a will or not but Susan did. Her's is registered in DeSota Co. Mississippi. I have not seen it yet but it is listed in the Index of Mississippi Wills. I am planning a reasearch trip in Oct to Talbot Co., Georgia and DeSota Co., Mississippi in October of this year to find out more. Would love to exchange information with you. Jimmie Chambless

I'd be delighted to let you borrow it if it would help you plan your research. I also have this big book with short histories of all the old little towns in MS---you could send me the names of the towns you're interested in. My "request" in return would be if you would keep an eye out for any Herricks in Talbot County. John Herricks was married there in 1836 to Nancy Layfield and I can't find him in any earlier or related records. Let me know. susan [email protected]

    3. Hi Susan: We haven't "talked" in ages. It's good to see that you are still out there. I'm still making trips to Talbot and Upson several times a year. And we made some progress on my McDaniel and Clark lines there in recent months. We're even having a McDaniel Reunion in Upson in late August. You and I communicated in the past about our roots in western middle Georgia and our ancestry in the railroads (you may remember mine were Vining, Travis and McDaniel with what became the Central of GA). You mention information about Mississippi. I'm also doing MS research, and would be interested in knowing the complete titles, dates, authors and publishers of the two sources that you mention in your GATALBOT-L e-mail. My mother was raised in the rural Salem Community outside of the small town of Macon, MS. Her family moved to Macon during the depression when they lost their farm, and she graduated from high school there. I'd appreciate it if you could check your book and see if it has anything on Macon, MS. The other sites in MS that are important to us are Iuka and Tishomingo and Paden in Tishomingo Co. and maybe Itawamba Co., in northeast MS, near the AL line. Let me know how you are. Are you making progress with your genealogy and how is the Insights business? I've never been busier in my life. So many opportunities--so little time. But, it's fun most days.
