I believe he is the father of my GG Grandfather, William Hawkins, who lived and raised his family in Talbot Co., GA. Jesse H. Hawkins m. Mary [Unknown] about 1800. Jesse's will mentions five children: William M. Funssy Bessie (1805->1846) Sarah (ca1808->1846) Edwin (ca1820->1860) Josiah (~1821->1846) Does anyone know if this Jesse Hawkins' son William married Serena Millen? Does anyone have any information on the other four children? Jesse HAWKINS is listed on Pike Co., GA tax digests between about 1839-1845, along with Josiah, Edwin, and Herman Hawkins. They may have come to GA from SC; but supposedly were originally from NC. Will of Jesse H. HAWKINS, written 2 June 1847, and signed with his mark (Pike Co., Will Bk C:11). Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Is anyone else researching these families? Marian >> Hi, Marian, I suspect that these HAWKINS are part of my bunch who originated in Lunenberg/Amelia County, VA in the 1760's, then moved to Rutherford County, NC, appx 1780-1795, then went to Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC before moving SW... I know that Josiah, and Jessee were certainly common names to this bunch. Very much interested in your Serena MILLEN -- we may have talked before on the Jones COunty list -- Serena's sister Aletha R. MILLEN was apparently the first wife of Wm. H. FEAGIN, my gg-gf. If you have learned anything more about the MILLENS I would sure like to talk further! Thanks Zou Feagin [email protected]
