McGehee, died at the home of her parents in Talbotton on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, after a brief illness. Little Carolyn was a bright and lovely baby, the idol of her home. Her beautiful baby life was so precious, so fraught with blessings to her parents that she seemed a flower of paradise permitted to bloom for a brief season by their side, then recalled to its nature skies, leaving the earth road as then dark and lonely indeed. And when the messenger came from the unseen lands to claim the darling as its own, "She only crossed her little hands, She only looked more meek and fair, We parted back her silken hair, We wove the ringlets round her brow, Wrapt from head to foot in flowers, Thus she left this world of ours." A brief funeral service was held at the home on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Francis McCullough, assisted by Rev. N.C. Underwood. Many friends and relatives were present at the service, and as they looked upon the sweet, placid little body in its white casket, and surrounded by flowers, yet not more beautiful or pure than the little face within, their hearts swelled in sympathy for the bereaved family. But let us not think of little Carolyn as dead; but as living;not as a flower that has withered, but as one that has been transplanted, and touched by a Divine hand, is blooming in a richer color and sweeter fragrance than those of earth. Collinsworth Institute May 5, 1860 (Talbot County) At a called meeting of the Students of Collinsworth Institute, the undersigned wer appointed a committee to drave resolutions expressive of our feelings in regard to the death of their much loved companion, Lucian C. Raines -- who died May 3, 1860 ages 14 years. Whereas it has pleased an All wise Providence to remove from our midst a dear fellow student, and a universal favorite, although we greatly deplore his early decease, yet with bleeding hearts we humbly bow in meek submission to "him that doeth all things well". Resolved 1. That in the death of Lucian C. Raines, we have lost one of our dearest associates; the Methodist Church; an acceptable member; the community a promising genius and Society a yout who bid fair to become one of her brightest ornaments. Resolved 2. In view of his many virtues--his kidness of heart; generosity of nature, and gentlemanly deportment to all with whom he was associated -- we will cherish for his memory the warmest feelings of friendship and tender to his grief-stricken relatives our heart-felt symphaties. Resolved 3. That, as a tribute of respect to the memory of our deceased brothere, we will wear the usual badge of mourning for thirty days. Resolved 4. That a copy of these resolutions be furnished to his deeply afflicted mother -- also to the Christian, Advocate, and Upson Pilot. Committee: J.O.A. Sparks, W.W. I want 2 obits with Beverly surname from 1953 in Talbot County. I have death dates as May 16, 1953 and December 21, 1953. Another one I am interested in is a Brown death date of Jan. 6, 1919. Please tell me where I might find these. Is there a library in Talbotton that has the newspapers on microfilm? Or, where do I go to see the newspapers? I would also like to thank the contributors of the obits and marriages that come through on the mailing lists. Thanks for assistance. Nancy in Thomaston
