She was sitting in the parlor of a home in Talbotton when she was shot. Dr Ryder tried to kill himself by drugging himself up and slashing his own wrists and jumping into a nearby pond. He was pulled out revived and made to stand trial. He was being transferred to the Muscogee County Jail when a group took hold of him and lynched him on the road between Columbus and Waverly Hall. I have pictures of the pond, the blood stains on the floor of the house where she died in Talbotton, and a picture of her house in Woodland. Let me know if you would like to see the pictures. I also have a story about her cousin Isabella that was known as the Werewolf of Talbot County. It is on the Strange Link on my site. We recommend the exemplary life of Dr. McGehee to our young preachers as worthy of emulation. Second, That inasmuch as Dr. McGehee has expressed his purpose to ask the next Annual Conference to release him of active work; we deeply deplore his loss to our conference, and regret that as the presiding officer of our district such action will necessitate a severance of our present relations. Third, That we will ever remember Brother McGehee and his devoted faithful wife in our prayers, and that Brother J.P. Oh! How soon the vapors flee. On June 4, 1906 there was born a little girl, a darling, a sunshine to the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. Leonard Payne, a bright little daughter, Margaret Louise. She was so bright and intelligent, of a kind, loving and winning disposition, a source of comfort. Sweet Louise, only 2 years, 1 month and 22 days old, had been the sunshine and center of affections of two homes, that of her parents and grandparents. This was not enough, for on the beautiful Sunday morning of July 26, 1908, just as the horizon of the eastern sky was tinted with golden colors of the rising sun the clock chimed out the hour 5, her sweet, gentle spirit, made its flight to that sinless, land of heaven above, where no pain nor anxious tears invade, but we say and try to be reconciled, for God never does anything wrong. God giveth, He taketh away. But our hearts long and go out after the tiny bud, little Louise, but we know she is resting in the arms of Jesus, and what a consolation it brings to our aching hearts when we read in the Bible where Christ took a little child on His knee and said suffer little children to come unto me, for such is the Kingdom of Heaven. So, knowing that our precious little Louise is in Heaven, let us one and all live to meet her in Heaven in the sweet bye and bye. The funeral services took place from Centerville Church; services were conducted by Rev. G.J. Har--- (name cut off). Interment was at Centerville Cemetery and was largely attended. We extend thanks to the community during the sickness and death of our little one. Her Loved Ones This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb

This Taylor List has always been a great help in teaming up with local citizens to work on historical projects. Here's another opportunity for us to assist. The Cemetery next to the Wesley Methodist Church wanted to assure that the Cemetery would be able to maintained in the coming years. (We have a list of those buried there on-line: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/taylor/cemeteries/wesley.txt (and we're always attempting to get more information on these families) They have now formed a cemetery committee for this Cemetery. It is separate from the church . There are people on the committee from different areas and churches. We have set up a trust fund where money can be given and upkeep of the cemetery will be taken care of from the interest made from that fund when needed. The trust was all done very proper with people from the Methodist conference and State offices. Any people that have any connection what so ever with Wesley cemetery on High way 208 in the Wesley community in Taylor county 10 Mi North west of Butler That want to make sure that cited is always taker care of can contact me or some of the other people on that committee:Charlie Wilson,Dan Coffee,Penny Pogue, Virginia Coffee and Marshall Scott.
