Since I've noticed so many marriages performed by Hiram Powell, I thought it would be interesting to learn more about him. In There was a Land pg 150 it mentions that he was the pastor of Union Church (evidently a Primitive Baptist, judgeing from the minutes). I think it would be interesting to see if all the names mentioned in the marriages were actually members of his church. If anyone had a Rockaway Book that deals with Union Church or has anything on Hiram Powell....woudl you share with us. Evidently this church was about 5 miles NE of Talbotton. Don't know if there was a town associated with it...or why it was called Union. Says Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stinson have those minutes. Does anyone know them? Or know where these minutes are now? I wonder if this is the only church Hiram Powell served? Virginia

The surname HOWARD is included as the maiden name of Caroline Boswell (26 Aug 1813-abt.1895). Actually, Caroline's maiden surname was BATES. Caroline married George BOSWELL in Wilkes County, GA at the age of eighteen on 1 Dec 1831. Her parents were Anderson and Hannah EVans BATES.
