    1. [GATALBOT] Dr. J.T. SMITH m. Malinda MANES in 1856

    3. Posted on: Talbot County, Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Talbot/688 Surname: SMITH, DEAN, FREEMAN ------------------------- I am trying to find information on a Dr. J.T. Smith who married Malinda Manes in 1856 in Talbot Co., Ga. I specifically want to know if he is the same Dr. J.T. (John Thomas) Smith who was later in Wilkinson County around 1859. The one in Wilkinson was born 1/27/1830 and married Amanda Dean in 1859. Supposedly, he was a dentist. Want to know if they are one in the same. Can anyone check the 1850 census for me for Talbot Co. to see if he is listed there? Thanks, Karen.

Maund 1842." Looking at ink and a very refined handwriting style within the Bible's family record section, it appears family record information was first entered beginning in 1847,-- three years before D.C. Maund's death. The Maund Bible was apparently passed down from Daniel C. Maund (1781-1850) to Joseph Henry Maund (1842-1911), Joseph Barnard Maund (1878-1946), Ella Ligon Maund Phillips (1909-1995), and James Barnard Phillips (1940 - Present). It is only on the immediate descendants (children) of these persons that records were maintained in this Bible. Virginia

    3. Many of you may not be aware of an additional resource for this area. The Muscogee Genealogical Society publishes a bi-annual journal called "Muscogiana". This society covers all of the area of the original Muscogee County, which included Harris, Talbot, Marion, Chattahoochee and the current Muscogee counties. These Riverdale Cemetery Records started being published in the "Muscogiana" in the Summer 2000 Nos. 1 & 2 issue. They have and are continuing until completion. The Society utilizes membership money to publish materials like this. We have a Subject List for the first 10 years already on-line and one of our projects this year is to compile a complete (searchable) name index for the first 10 years of publications. We currently have name and subject indexes for several of these journals on-line and hope to finish the first 10 years by the end of the week. So, you may want to check through these indexes for the people you are seeking. Limited look-ups will be done. If you are unable to reach our site through the Muscogee GAGenWeb page, our address is www.muscogeegenealogy.com. Back issues of the Muscogiana are available for purchase. So please continue to check this site for updates. We also welcome members to the society, as it is through this membership money that we continue to be able to preserve and publish this type of materials. 3. Gene, For info on known descendants of Allen Helms, plus an extra page of "unconnected" Helms from the West Central Ga. area (Talbot, Upson, Pike and Spalding, Charles might be on there), go to: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ceru2/ and click on the Helms link. This is my page, so e-mail me with any questions. I think we may have corresponded before, at my old e-mail addy. Hope you enjoy! Sherri Ellington Helms descendant P.S., folks, the page also includes FORCE, FALLIN and SELF, with ELLINGTON info due to go up soon. Also, the old e-mail addy is on the page, so is a "broken" link.

    2. Hi, Virginia, Re :Brown Cemetery: I believe the last one listed is Abner Perry Wimberly, son of Lewis Wimberly and Matilda Garrett. He was born September 8, 1835 (don't know where) and died June 17, 1909 in Talbot County, Georgia. He was married to Melinda E. Daniel on September 4, 1860 in Talbot County. She died on March 18, 1880 in Talbot County, however, I do not see her listed with him or the other Daniels. Wonder where she is buried. I know Abner Perry Wimberly was in the Civil War. I have a picture of him in his uniform. I also have a picture of her. Their 11 children were: 1. John Daniel Wimberly 2. Ross Daniel Wimberly b. October 28, 1861 3. Lewis Young Wimberly b. January 12, 1864 4. Abby Wimberly b. November 8, 1865 5. Jones Wimberly b. March 7, 1868 6. Abner Perry Wimberly, Jr. b. June 21, 1872 7. Brenda Wimberly b. 1871 8. Lucy Blandford Wimberly b. Oct. 5, 1874 9. Fanny Stevens Wimberly b. February 23, 1876 10.Bernard Hill Wimberly b. November 10, 1878 11.Joseph. Brown Wimberly b. February 28, 1880 Abner Perry Wimberly was my great grandmother's brother. Bobbie Bryan Coons
