Hello, I'm new to this list and would like to post some information about the family I'm researching in Talbot County. William Robert Blythe was born in July 1854 and died 10/25/1923. He was married three times. I've not verified his first wife's name, but from information obtained from the Census, I believe her name to be Emma. His second wife, was my great-great grandmother, Mattie Fielder Blythe 11/1867-1/1/1909. They married on 2/16/1890 in Chattahoochee County, GA. In 1900 according the the Census, they are still living in Chatt. County, however by March 1908, they are living in Junction City, Ga. according to Church Records from Junction City Baptist. W.R. and Mattie Fielder Blythe had four children: Susie Clyde Blythe Layfield 12/11/1890-10/10/1393 Robert Pinkney Blythe 5/25/1893-12/4/1937 Evans Alonza Blythe 2/24/1896-8/28/1942 Thelma Blythe 1/1898-1901 W.R. Blythe also had an older son, William A. Blythe (12/27/1878-6/28/1943), from his first marriage. After his wife Mattie died in 1909, W.R. Blythe married Jeanette Mattison on 4/20/1916. W.R. Blythe is listed as one of the first settlers of Junction City, GA in a book entitled, "There was a Land" by Mrs. Linda Bryan. Mr. Blythe was a foreman at the local Coffin factory in Junction City. He and his sons were very active in the community and belonged to Junction City Baptist Church. William A. Blythe was a Member of the Board of Education and helped to start the Farmers & Merchants Bank. Evans was a well known local businessman in Columbus, GA and Junction City. There is a Blythe Street in Junction City, which was named in honor of this family. I would like to hear from anyone who is researching this family or has any additional information about them. Thanks, Carla

Thank you, Lynda for helping us to organize some of the information on Talbotton District of Talbot County. She combined information that she found in the two reference books to compile a listing of the churches, cemeteries, schools in the various districts. I'm sending the Talbotton Listing first... One of our goals was to list the various ministers of the gospel who might also have appeared on some of the marriage data that we shared earlier. Possibly that would give you an indication of the religion of your ancestor. As always I hope this will be useful to you, and we welcome your input on this on-going project.
