    3. Perhaps someone on this list would know something about my Council Stephenson and family. He married a second wife, Susan Jolly in Randolph Co., Ga. in 1849. His first wife was Jackyann (?) He was born in N.C. abt. 1804. He is in the 1850 census Barbour Co. Al. He was in Muscocee Co. Ga. in 1840. I am told Council was also in Talbot Co. at one time, but wasn't told when. Kindred Stephenson, whom I suspect is his brother, is also in Muscocee Co in 1840. A Silas Stephens is in Taliaferro Co in 1840 Milita Dist 601. Another Silas Stephenson is in Marion Co. 1840. Another Silas Stephenson is in Barbour Co. Alabama in 1840. Does anyone know anything about these Silas Stephenson's? I would appreciate any information on these folks before I come to those counties researching. Thank you. Do you have any information on the Roquemores of Talbot County, Georgia or Russell County, Alabama? Any information would be very much appreciated.

I do know that my grandfather's mother was Elizabeth Stripling and that they lived in Harris County in Union/Jones Crossroads near the Troup County line. I think it is possible that Calvin met Elizabeth in Talbot County, but, since posting my query, I have information that his father(or the man we think might be his father, Rolley Spinks) moved to Harris County with another son, John, so it is also possible that they met there. Too many years have passed for anyone to know - all children and grandchildren and most of the great grandchildren are now dead - so I look where I can to find any information. If you can find anything, please let me know.

    1. [GATALBOT] Callier and Leonard
    2. bobby e moore
    3. In looking at old Talbot list messages, I see that some of you are looking for Leonards. I am searching the Callier line which evidently connects with the Leonards. I have included some deeds which indicate this. Thomas Callier born 1769( sometimes spelled Collier/Caller/) came from Granville/Bute/Warren NC. He married Nancy Mayfield there in 1793 , and by the early 1800's they were in Green Co. GA. In the Franklin Co. NC( adjacent to Warren and once a part of Bute which was split to form the two counties) deed books there are some rather confusing deeds dealing with the estate of Benjamin Mayfield. !822-1833 Thomas and family involved in estate settlement of wife Nancy Mayfield in Franklin Co. NC. (Franklin is adjacent to Warren Co. NC). Thomas and family are still living in Greene Co. GA. He eventually ends up in Talbot Co. GA by where Thomas is buried in Talbotton in 1851. FRANKLIN CO. NC DEED BOOK 21(containing deeds for 1823-25, Book J) p.8 Thomas Callier of Green Co. GA, father and guardian to Betsy Taylor Callier and Edwin Callier, the minor children of his deceased wife Nancy Callier, formerly Nancy Mayfield, appointed James Merriwether of Clark Co. GA as his attorney to recover the estate of Benjamin Mayfield, deceased, late of Franklin Co. Aug. 21, 1820 p.9 James Callier, Urbane Leonard, in right of his wife, Rebecca Parsons, formerly Rebecca Parsons Callier, and James Pace Leonard in right of his wife Martha Duke, formerly Martha Duke Callier, all of Green Co. GA, appointed James Meriwether of Clark Co. GA as their attorney to recover from the estate of Benjamin Mayfield, deceased, late of Franklin Co.(Francis Dudley Callier was presumably the wife of James Callier, Aug. 1820.) **Note: (From the History of Greene Co. GA, by Rice and Williams, Irbane Leonard married Rebecca Collier(Callier) Feb. 2, 1815.) p.215 James Callier and wife, Frances D. Callier, James Meriwether and wife Mary T. Meriwether,(according to other records, Mary T. Callier married James Meriwether) and Elizue L. Newton, and Elizabeth (Betsy) T. Newton, all of Green Co. AL, sold land situated in Franklin Co. to Richard Russell of Warren Co. NC, which land was a part of the tract formerly belonnging to Benjamin Mayfield, deceased, Nov. 2, 1822. p. 460 William Thrift and wife , Sally Thrift, she of Warren Co. , replacement deed to Thomas T. Russell for land formerly conveyed to Richard Russell of Warren Co. who has since died; this deed was for land drawn by said William and Sally Thrift in the division of the lands of Benjamin Mayfield, deceased, April 1833. p. 473 Edwin Callier of Talbot Co. GA, deed to Thomas T. Russell for land situated in Franklin Co. , it being one-sixth part of the land which Benjamin Mayfield died seized and possessed; James Meriwether Mayfield, formerly of the state of Georgia, but now of Tennessee, sold this land to Richard Russell sometimes in the year 1822; said Edwin Callier was a minor at the time of that sale, March 13, 1833. Now, in the cemetery listing for James Callier, his"wife" Irbane Leonard is listed. Is this an error? Wasn't Urbane/Irbane Leonard a male as indicated by the Greene Co. marriage and the deed listing the wife of James Callier as Frances Dudley? The Mayfields, Dukes and Calliers were neighbors in NC long before the move to GA . Any help with understanding these deeds will be appreciated. Sue Moore Texas

Posted on: Talbot County, Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Talbot/10683 Surname: Clark, McDaniel, Black ------------------------- SANFORD CLARK, TALBOT CO. LAND OWNER 1835-1842. I'm looking for a link between Sanford Clark (b and d unknown) and Nancy E. Clark (b 1824 in MS or AL d 1883 Talbot Co.) who married Hyram McDaniel(1819-1894) in 1841 in Talbot Co. and settled in the Pleasant Hill Community, where both are buried. Deed records for the county indicate that a Sanford Clark sold or purchased land in Lots 205-235, 208, 234, 235, 245, Thomaston Road and/or Seven Mile Loop Road, Bunkham during this period. Parts of several of these lots were later owned by the Hyram McDaniel family. One of Nancy Clark McDaniel's grandsons was named Sanford Clark McDaniel (b 1897). Sanford Clark McDaniel was the son of Allen Franklin and Edna Eugenia Black McDaniel. Sanford C. McDaniel also had a son Sanford Clark McDaniel, Jr. Allen was the youngest son of Hyram and Nancy. I'd especially like to hear from any Clark family researchers, as I've not been able to connect any of the Clarks who married about the same time as Hyram and Nancy in Talbot County in this period. All clues appreciated. And an additional note: Hyram's and Nancy's descendants are invited to meet for a McDaniel and Allied Families Reunion, Saturday, August 25, at Bickley's Lake, The Rock, Upson Co., GA.
