    1. [GATALBOT] Re: SHERRARD
    2. Meriam, If you have used the email address "[email protected]" then we exchanged information on the YELVERTONS and SIZEMORES back in 1998. You may have correspondence from me either at "[email protected]" or "[email protected]" (the latter I have not used in quite a while). I don't think I realized at that time that you had a REVELL connection. My REVELL connection is also on my SIZEMORES, so maybe there's more to this than we put together then. Please email me and we can compare notes. Thanks--John Mallory Land

    2. Hi; Hulen Green(e) and James beck were both employed by the railroad before milita. There were many Green(e)s in Talbot Co census 1840-50-60. Joannah Greene m. James Beck in Dec 1849 recorded in 1850. James was employed by Joannah's father and listed as living in the same household in 1840 census Talbot Co. Lots of confusion caused by the fact that part of Meriwether, Taylor and Tabot were formerly Muscogee Co . Previously parts of ALA in this area were in GA. At one time GA streched to the Miss. river Oscar Beck Gardendale, West Texas

    2. Found William Franklin Green/e's pension records and Prudee P. Green/e's application for pension for herself on service of husband Benjamin W. Green/e, however, I have looked at the records in the GA Archives and they seem to be more complete. William Franklin Greene was brother to Benjamin W. Greene. At the time he reapplied for a pension he was in Talledega Co AL and there was a very long discussion about why he wasn't paying taxes to GA when he was living in AL !!! His mother, Prudee, and his younger brother, Benjamin W. Greene Jr. both attested that he really "lived" in Columbus - just worked in Talledega. This does not show up on the site. I only got it by ordering complete records from the GA Archives. Eleanor Greene Hemmes in Dallas TX a desc of Benjamin W. Greene and Prudence P. Childers Greene

    2. Alan, thanks for the response. Glad to know about another Sherrard descendant. Do you have Thomas Saunders as Elizabeth Saunders Sherrard's father? Somehow, I had William Saunders as her father. How far back do you have on the Sherrard line? Steve Yelverton has done a lot on the Sherrard's. You might want to contact him. Let me know.

    2. Mary Ann Childers (b 1824) married Lewis McBryde (b 1825) in 1843. I have yet been able to connect her with the other Childers in my line, though Im sure she must be related somehow. John Childers (b 1800) married Nancy Hammock (b 1806) in 1821. I have no evidence that Mary is there daughter, though anything may be possible. Hope this helps you some. How do you connect to the Childers line? I connect through the Hammocks and McBrydes. Maybe we could be of some help to eachother. Good luck to you. 3. It is possible that I might be able to help you. Although John & Nancy are not in my direct line of descent, Nancy was a sister to my own 4th great grandfather and I've done considerable research on both families. There apparently is about a 3 or so year gap in the ages of John & Nancy's children per the censuses, that your Mary Ann could fill. I've found that generally the families had children about every 12-18 months. I've tried to account for wrong info being given to the census enumerators, and confused dates. Thing is, I have a marriage for Lewis McBryde to Mary Ann Childers or Childress in Talbot Co 11/26/1843, and still have not discerned what her exact maiden name was, nor whether she was the d/o John & Nancy. Am busily looking though!! Might I ask what is your connection/interest? Perhaps I can help. 2. We know very little about Jesse Herricks except his service record in the War. I have been through the Taylor and Talbot County marriage records and have found no marriage for him. However, if Mary Gaultney lived in a different county the marriage would usually be licensed in the bride's county. Also, the spelling on licenes was often atrocious. How did you come to look at Jesse as a possible husband? Maybe that would help me try and connect. She is buried in the same cemetery as my Herricks family was during that time period--while not much help, Girard Cemetery isn't real big. Let me know. Susan
