I had the pleasure of going to the Washington Library in Macon yesterday, and came across a couple of nuggets of info. Can anyone give me some info on the Stephen GRIMES (household #732) listed in the 1850 Talbot census?? He is shown as 22, a laborer, no state of birth shown. His wife is Elizabeth, age 24, also no state of birth. They have a son William, 1. Living with them is Jane DRENIAN, 24, b. in SC. Can anyone give me any info on either of them? Are Jane and Elizabeth possibly sisters? I found a William DRENNING on the 1840 Talbot census, wonder if Jane could be his daughter..... It appears that Jane is my great grandmother, who m. William H. FAGAIN in 1852.
Thanks for the info. By the way, her full name was Zou Steele DANIEL.... Thanks again. Zou
Jeptha Chambless did not leave a will. The person that I have found that knows the most about him is Leland Chambless, [email protected] He has the information you are looking for, I think. My husband is descended from this line through daughter Susan Mary Chambless who married Wm. B. Young and migrated to Panola Co. TX. I have put their Bible on the Chambless website. Also their picture is on another website if you are interested. Sue
Tanya, I am a decendent of Jeptha C. Chambless and am researching the line. I don't know if Jeptha left a will or not but his wife Susan did. It was recorded in DeSota Co., Mississippi. Found this in Index of Mississippi Wills. Have not seen the will but an planning a reseaarch trip in the fall to Talbot Co. and also DeSota Co. Do you how long Susan stayed in Georgia after Jeptha was killed? or any information about their life there?Am willing to share any information I have.
Jonell: your posting caught my eye, but unfortunately I have missed the post you referred to. Do you still have a copy of it or can you tell me where to find it? I tried searching the Talbot-L archives and it did not pop up. I am interested in John Finney Dismukes. I have a copy of the will of the John Finney Dismukes who died in 1834; there is a James mentioned as a son. Does the will mention James DISMUKES? Where might find this Will? Thank you for any help
Tanya, I am also decendent of Jeptha C. Chambless. Am researching the line. I don't know if Jeptha left a will but his wife Susan left one when she died. It was filed in DeSota Co. Mississippi. I have not seen it but it is listed in that county. Do you have any more details on how long Susan stayed in Talbot before she and the younger children moved to DeSota Co with her brothers? Or of their life in Talbot Co.?
I tried checking my database and there is not really enough data in your EMail to do much checking on. Sorry! Naomi
Cheryl: Sorry, no relation to Wheelers in Houston, although I did go to college there. My maiden name was Rodgers. Wheeler is my husband's family name. It is also an "Ellis Island" name, so it's not even the original. If your Grubbs family is from Georgia or Arkansas, we might be kin that way. I'd be glad to hear if you think there is a connection. Terry
Hi! My father's name is Robert D. Sherrard Jr. I am the III. I have been trying to research my tree for several years now and have a brick wall with my Ggrandfather Robert Lee Sherrard. His mother was Virginia AKA Celia Ann Sherrard but I don't know who his father was. I think that I am connected to a line that goes back to a John Sherrard in Pulaski County Georgia in the early 1800's. His spouse is unknown but they had seven children: Martha Sherrard b: Abt 1803 Benjamin Sherrard b: Abt. 1805 Sarah Ann Sherrard b: Abt. 1807 Solomon Sherrard b: Abt. 1809 Joel Sherrard b: 1810 Pulaski Co. GA. William Sherrard b: 1814 Pulaski Co. GA. John R. Sherrard b:1820 MS. Benjamin Sherrard married Rachel Fowler Alford who was the daughter of Fort Alford and Hannah Goodson. Does anyone recognise any of these names? e-mail me at [email protected]
Meriam, I would be very interested in any info you have on the Sherrard/Lawrence families. Please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks, Tina
Hi John; I don't know if I returned your message but just in case. The R.H. Sanders in MS. 1860 Census is listed as being from Tenn. I think that the Sanders and Sherrards are tied in some where but can't put my finger on it yet.
are you kin to the wheeler family from houston ? mom named Sue? i am arlee grubbs daughter. would like to find my realitives also. I know i have an aunt Sue in Houston on my fathers side . please let me know Thank you cheryl
The descendants of Hyram McDaniel (1819-1894) and Nancy Clark McDaniel (1824-1883) of Talbot Co., GA, will hold their annual reunion August 25, 2001, 11:00-3:00, at Bickley's Lake, The Rock, Upson Co., GA. Contact me for further information. During the past year, we have succeeded in locating and visiting the "lost" McDaniel Cemetery in the Pleasant Hill Community and the graves of Hyram and Nancy. There are numerous graves marked only by field stones at this site. Barbara McDaniel Ray Atlanta, GA [email protected]
Hello Zou, Neither of the names that you mention are familiar to me at present. I do know that John Crawford Daniel married his wife Mary Woodard in Waco, TX in the 1880s. They did not stay there long however and eventually moved elsewhere in the state. I will keep your message on file and if any connection turns up or I see anything about Missouri or Zou I will contact you. Thanks for your message. Del, sorry that I have no info on your immediate question, but I am wondering if yo maybe have some info for me. By any chance do your TX DANIELs include a Missouri or Zou DANIEL?? She probably would have been born in the 1880-1900 time period, and lived in the Waco area when she died. I believe that she was a Baptist Missionary for many years. Any clues???? Thanks Zou Feagin, her namesake

Looking for any info. regarding James B. Daniel and family who were in Talbot Co. GA prior to 1840. He had a son named Joseph B. Daniel and they later moved to Choctaw Co. AL where they were found on the 1860 and 1870 census. I would like to find out what the "B" stood for as their middle name. Would also like to know the names of their children or any other info for that matter. I am descended from John Crawford Daniel, b. 1848 in Choctaw Co. AL who was the son of Joseph. John moved to Texas when he was about 13 because he was too young to "fight the yankees." Both Joseph and James were planters in Choctaw Co. I would love to learn more of their lives in GA. I will gladly share any info. that I have. Del Daniel
Hello. I don't have any information on the SANDERS/SHERRARDS you mentioned living in Yazoo Co, MS in 1860, but I would be interested to know more and would be glad to share what information I have on these families. It sounds as though there might be a conneciton. Does the census say if any of these individuals were born in GA? Email me and we can compare notes. --John
