    1. Re: [GASPALDI] Where do I find information on a suicide?
    2. Patricia Vermeer via
    3. Hi Rick, Is it possible to narrow the date down in 1940? If so, an obituary may be easier to find although there was such a stigma about suicide, it was rarely mentioned. The only two things I can think of are looking thru the newspapers from 1940 or going thru a city directory from 1940 line by line to find the address to see who lived there. Maybe someone else has another idea that may help. 3. I am searching for data concerning James P. Davis in the 1860 census of Spalding Co., Georgia. May be James Polk Davis. He is residing with the Maynard Family. In 1870 he is not there. Did he die during the war? In 1880 James M. Davis and wife, Ann America Gordon were in Line Creek Dist. With one son and 5 daughters. Also residing with them were Lark and Bartow Maynard. The Maynard's were cousins to the Davis family. Through which family were the Maynard's related to the Davis family? Where are James and Ann Davis buried? Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks Lily

    3. Thank you Lynn, and all the other volunteers who continue to make this hobby work for me and so many others. When you read something like this and Ancestry.com says it wants to focus (read, make more money) on its core products and mission--just what that is and will be. Barbara McDaniel Ray Atlanta, GA -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lynn Cunningham Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2014 5:01 PM To: Pike County; Spalding County; Lamar County; Upson County Subject: [GASPALDI] Ancestry.com to Retire Five Genealogy Services FYI Ancestry.com to Retire Five Genealogy Services Posted by Diane Ancestry.com today announced that it will "retire" five of its services as of Sept. 5, 2014: •Genealogy.com (though the site will remain online with some content) •MyFamily.com, the family website service •MyCanvas, the photo book publishing service •Mundia.com, the worldwide family tree site •Y-DNA and mitochondrial DNA testing Ancestry.com's executive vice president of product, Eric Shoup, said yesterday in a conference call with genealogy media that ending these services will allow Ancestry.com to focus on its core products and mission. Subscribers and active users of each service will receive an email with details on any refunds (if applicable) and how to retrieve their content, and each site will have retirement landing pages and FAQs for customers. Here's an overview of what will happen: •Genealogy.com subscriptions and member accounts will end, but the site will remain online (it would be silly to give up a domain name like Genealogy.com) with the message boards and Family Tree Maker home pages in read-only format, as well as the most popular educational articles. •MyFamily.com customers can export their group data using an Export Now button that appears on the site when you're logged in. Prorated refunds will be automatically issued to owners of active sites. •MyCanvas customers can complete projects through Sept. 4. After then, printing orders won't be accepted and saved projects will be deleted. Kinda makes me sad, because I created my wedding photo book here. You should be able to print a project for free at home by going to My Projects, clicking Preview for a project, then clicking the Print button (if you have trouble, try selecting pages to print a couple at a time). •Mundia family trees also are on Ancestry.com, where you can search them for free (you must subscribe in order to contact tree owners, which is the case with all of Ancestry.com's member trees). Mundia tree owners can download their family trees in their native language before Sept. 5. •Y-DNA and mtDNA tests are no longer being sold on Ancestry.com (but the company will continue to sell its AncestryDNA autosomal tests, and autosomal DNA customers aren't affected). Customers who've taken Y-DNA or mitochondrial DNA tests can download their raw data by visiting the AncestryDNA website. Y-DNA and mtDNA customers' samples will be destroyed (it might become possible to upgrade samples to autosomal testing, such as for someone who is now deceased—stay tuned). ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
