    3. Scotty, There may be more to this Texas outlaw thing than you think. The Bowen information that I was referring to is for my 3great-grandfather Mark Bowen. His father Clifton Bowen Jr was a lieutenant in the Revolutionary War, and Mark and at least one of his brothers also were soldiers in that War. They served with a Duplin NC unit, and after the war Clifton and some of his sons moved into the Bulloch Co Ga area. Recently I have been researching my Hall family from Emanuel Co Ga. My 3great-grandfather was Juniper Hall Sr. In researching his family I have found that there is probably some connection, either by blood or marriage, maybe both, to a James family out of the Edgecombe NC area. I've no idea whether this James family was related to the famous outlaw brothers, but perhaps they were.... DNA evidence actually tracks Juniper Hall's ancestry back to Maryland, probably though Pittsylvania Va. One of his sons, James G Hall, moved to Thomas Co Ga. One of James's daughters was Mary Jane. Mary Jane Hall b 1822 Thomas Co Ga married James Alexander Bowen on 10-15-1846 in Thomas Co Ga. James was born abt 1820 or so in Duplin NC. This couple moved to Gadsden Co Fl where they raised their family. They are buried in the Barber Cemtery in Gadsden Fl.There is a book about this family, but I haven't found any information as to James's parents. I suspect that he may be related to the Clifton Bowen family since he was from Duplin NC. So, if you want to pass this message along too, maybe someone can help me. The James Alexander Bowen family has connections to some Bulloch Co families, one I think was a granddaughter who married a Peavy, so any information about this family would be appreciated. If you don't know of him his e mail is concord2@comcast.net His father is of the Bowen line. I told him last fall that i had just finished reading a fascinating bio of the infamous gunslinger, John Wesley Harden. Harden married a Bowen girl ( Janie ) out in Texas but who's family came from SW Alabama ( just above Escambia County, Fla ). They even hid out from the law there for a time. Mike wasn't sure, yet, if that Bowen and his line were related. 3. Carol, if my memory serves me right mike May's Bowen ancestor was James Alexander Bowen. I'll pass this e mail onto Mike. I recently also finished an excellent bio on Frank and Jesse James. I will re-check for their families' origins prior to Missouri and let you know if it mentions No Carolina.
