Hi Ann, You need to log off the system (not necessarily restart) and then log back into the computer as a system administrator. Typically, the system will have a default login for the "Administrator" already pre-configured or ready to be configured. It'll be available in the Users folder of the old Control Panel. Basically, you have to be logged onto your computer as a user with administrator privileges if you are going to install the FTM patch. This is the typical security setting for every version of Microsoft Windows since WIN NT & 2000. You cannot install software updates and patches onto the system unless you possess administrative privileges for that computer system.
