Nan, No, she didn't and evidently couldn't have any. Doll and my grandfather, Walter Scott, were engaged in 1920 (they'd grown up on adjacent farms, from what I can gather). Anyway, one Sunday, Grandpa made the mistake of going over to see Doll after he'd been drinking. Now, John Barney Williams, Grandma's father, was a pretty bad drinker from what I understand, so Doll gave Grandpa her engagement ring back, and told him that she was going to marry a drunk! Suffice it to say, Grandpa didn't give up drinking until 1943, and within a few months, was married to my grandmother, Laura Mock. After this marriage, Doll married Sollie Conner, who was a widower with children, and they lived over in Brooklet. Marguerite Perkins from Emit Grove is Doll's niece. Anyway, in 1959, Grandpa's sister, Daisy Scott Wells (who also lived in Brooklet), asked her younger brother (Grandpa) if he would paint her house. Aunt Daisy also invited Doll over for lunch. As Grandpa and Doll were both recently widowed (and Grandpa no longer drank), they reestablished their relationship and got married in 1960. I remember watching them when we'd come and visit from Statesboro, walking hand-in-hand and they were really in love with each other! However, I'm glad that it worked out the way it did, or else I wouldn't be here today! Also, two of Doll's sisters, Cora Lee and Nettie, I believe, married two of Grandpa's cousins, Virgil R. and Charlie Scott. Aunt Lola Williams Lee was the youngest of these 15 Williams children, and she died last summer. I hope that this helps. Happy hunting!
