I'm sure there is 'bound' to be more than 'metes' the eye in this surveying business. For a good view of how much early surveying work was done, one cneedd only read some of the bios of Lincoln and his early life at New Salem Village and how he learned to be a surveyor. I saw some of his own surveying equipment at the museum there at new Salem and at the Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfiled, Illinois.
