Sharon, I appreciate your data on ol' Baptist Norman Scott. >From 1981 to, well actually even today, I try to compile as many Scott genealogies as I can find on Scott's from Georgia. In 1981 I did not know of my Screven Co. Scott's but i learned they came out of there; couldn't pinpoint exact heritage until Cousin Scotty and Bob Peavy sent me data on my ancestral Screvenites . So, from '81 I began researching every scott family i could find in the Georgia Census records , page by page, every Ga county, every census avaialble on microfilm, and tons of other records until I had listed every Scott I could find. decade by decade I could trace Scott's and their descendants. I also began marriage records and Confederate service data. Today I have a huge compilation I call " Scott Family's From Georgia Research Guide " I have been able, over the last many years to help others researching Scott's. I believed that eventually this would lead me to connect with my own Scott 'cousins'. I have also been compiling another large research guide of Scott's who served the Confederacy. Of over 300 I have working data on about 250, and looking for more ( war and pension records, unit histories, etc. ) This effort is entitled " Scott';s From Georgia In The Confederacy " ( neither title is an ingenious one but it satisfies the projects purpose. ) .Baptist Norman was an early one I noted mainly due to his name.Often wondered if he was a Baptist or not! Thanks to your data I can update his file in my Scott Guide. I always beleive that the more data we can find on our 'old folks' the better we can remember them and their lives and accomplishments and help to make them 'live' again if only in our memories.
