    3. Hello y'all, hope everyone is doing well? I asked the question to the Wiregrass mailing list but thought I would ask on the Screven list as well since I know I have plenty of Griner cousins down that way. I decided to start researching my Griner family again & anew being a direct Griner descendant (Mom's maiden-name is Griner) & Johann is my seventh great-grandfather so I am starting with him. Plugging him into Google I found him listed on a website, immigrantships.net, as arriving 3rd Swabian Transport (11) Arrival - November 1752, Ship Unknown, Captain Brown. With Grandfather Johann were: Johann Casper II (child), Johann Martin & Maria Magdalena. My confusion is this. Bob Griner states Johann arrived in this same year, but he also has two other children listed, Andreas & my Philip Jacob Griner but they are not mentioned in this list. He also my fourth great-grandfather John Martin Griner as being born 1739 in Purysburg, South Carolina but that does not make sense if Johann did not get here until 1752. He also has the above Maria as Mary & being born 1735 in South Carolina, but she was on the ship with him. Am I missing something, did Johann go back to his homeland for a while then return in 1752? I would greatly appreciate in help in sorting this out for I am throughly confused. Sincerely, Lena --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? 3. Hi Lena, Bob Griner has been working on the Greiner / Griner folks of Burke and Screven Counties for quite a long time. I trust his work. Only if your Griner ancestor was a Greiner from the northern part of Burke County (adjacent to Richmond County) and from around Blythe should you have any concern about which Griner you might descend from. Those Greiner folks from around Blythe were descended from one of two Greiner brothers who came to Georgia from New Jersey (if I'm recalling matters correctly). I grew up in rural Richmond County and knew members of that Greiner family from Blythe. Which is in contrast to my own Griner (Greiner) ancestry in Screven and Burke Counties. Go to the Griner boards on both RootsWeb and GenForum and run some searches. Best of all, trust Bob Griner's analyses. Some others have come up with alternative interpretations for the origins of the Greiner / Griner folks (originally found in Purrysburg, SC) and they haven't fared too well. Dale E.
