Scottie Scott...... Am I picking up a correct impression that the churches in Screven were predominantly Methodist and in Effingham they were predominantly Baptist? Even if it was just "on balance"? Or is ONLY that the ones you all are talking about right now just happened to be Meth. in Screven and Bapt. in Effingham so that fakes me out? And if the above is a correct perception is it likely because Lorenzo Dow set up shop recruiting Methodists in Screven that would have otherwise remained Baptists had Dow not shown up? This implication being that Dow "missed" Effingham since he was largely working in Screven. I am led to this speculation because in my own family (which spans both counties) the ones in Screven are predominantly Methodist and the ones in Effingham are predominantly Baptist even though it is the same family. (although in fact, the Poythress crowd came to Screven from VA largely Methodists in the first place ALTHOUGH the ones in Screven are Methodists and in Effingham are largely Baptist.) Your thoughts?
