Howdy folks... I'm hopin someone can help me with a puzzle I have going. John Overstreet Mathews b 2-26-1860 d 5-1-1946 married Lula Marian Medlock b10-16-1866 d 8-18-1895 they had 2 daughters Mamie b1888 Mary b1890 Lula died in Aug of 1895... In the 1900 census for Screven county lists John O. and Georgia E. Mathews with the 2 daughters. Married 4 years, putting the marriage in 1896. easy enough so far.. 2 marriages right?? The death certificate for John Mathews lists Ellie Howard Mathews as his wife. I have 7 letter written in 1896 from John to Ellie. Joh was living in Sardis at the time. The letters talk of a impending wedding between the 2. I dont think John was that much of a cad. Ok, now after you read all of that... I think Georgia and Ellie are the same person. I just cant find any proof. I cannot find a grave or obit for Georgia. Does anyone have access to marriage records for april thru sept of 1896?? Can anyone find a reference of Georgia Howand marrying John Mathews??? I know that it is along shot that anyone can help.
