    2. Gregory Drexel
    3. Hi Barbara. I feel the same kind of exasperation sometimes being so far away from all the possible records. I'm in Fort Worth, TX, and it seems everything else is in GA! I looked in another book, a little different take on the same done by the GHS. These were the listings for Daniel Goffe: Died. On Tuesday morning between five and six o'clock, the coroner's Inquest sat n the body of Mr. DANIEL GOFFE, son of Mrs. JANE GOFFE, of this town [Savannah], found dead near Major Fishbourn's about half an hour after one, when by the verdict of the jury it appeared MR. GOFFE came to his death from the discharge of a musket out of a window of PLATT'S tavern. The jury charge one JOHN BRICE, alias RICHARDS, a carpenter from Charleston, WILLIAM ALLEN, Platt and his wife, all now in confinement, with being principals and accessories in murdering the deceased. His remains were in the evening attended to the Burying-Ground by a respectable number of citizens. Thursday, July 7, 1785, NOTICES, Georgia Gazette. SAVANNAH NEWS Last night, between eight and nine o'clock, as the under gaoler opened the prison door, he was, together with another man, knocked down with iron bolts by JOHN BRICE, alias Richards, committed for the murder of MR. Thursday, July 28, 1785, Georgia Gazette SAVANNAH NEWS At the trial of WILLIAM PLATT, MARY PLATT, his wife, and JOHN BRICE, alias RICHARDS, for the murder of Mr. DANIEL GOFFE, all the prisoners were found guilty. The jury recommended MARY PLATT to the mercy of the Court. It appeared in the course of the trial that Platt had borne a grudge to two gentlemen, who he supposed to be, and one of whom actually was, in company with Mr. GOFFE. The musket was fired by BRICE, but he was furnished with it by the people of the house, and at their instigation committed the above cruel murder.
