CHANDLER Surname From: "Marriages and Obituaries From Early Georgia Newspapers" Abstracted by" Judge Folks Huxford. pg. 160 "A List of Burials in Savannah from the 6th to the 13th inclusive: (16) Barnard CHANDLER, native of New Hampshire, age 29 years; fever. Sept. 16, 1819. (Editors Note: The above deaths occurred in Savannah in a week's time and those of fever were evidently the results of a fever epidemic there. In those days when a fever edidemic, especially yellow-fever, hit a town the victims were quarantined in buildings to themselves; and in Savannah apparently the "Poor-House" and the jail were so used.)" THE COLUMBIA MUSEUM & SAVANNAH DAILY GAZETTE, 1817-1820. (Nancy's Note: For those interested I will be happy to send the entire list of 20 names of those that died during that time period. It does state where the deceased were from and their ages. No spouse, etc.) pg. 314 "A Mr. EVERETTE, a well digger, died in a well on the plantation of Walter CHANDLER six miles from Gainesville, Ga. on 3rd from noxious gases. Sept. 8, 1883.
