Savannah, January 2. On Wednesday morning the 25th untimate, three young men, viz: MR. WILLIAM HOBBES, Mr. George Threadcraft, and Mr. Bethson, attempted to cross the swamp...to Zubly's Ferry, on their way to South Carolina. Threadcraft's and Bethson's horses threw them into the swamp, Hobbes tried to save them, and his horse threw him into the swamp, he was never seen again. The other two were saved that night by Negroes in a canoe. Mr. Hobbes being an only child, and of a disposition that rendered him a comfort to his aged parents, their grief on this melancholy occasion can be better conceived than described. His corpse was found next day and interred. (GG 1/2/1800, 3:2) Savannah, August 20. died. Last Monday night in Effingham county, Mr. JOHN HOBBES. (GG 8/20/1801, 3:2) That is all.
