Good evening list. I ran across a reference to a "CHARLESTOWN ACADEMY" recently and wondered if anyone had any history they might provide on this school. It was put together by the surrounding planters of the Cameron, Halycondale, Dover area in the southern part of the county (Screven County, across the Ogeechee River from Bulloch County, GA) sometime during the early 1800's, and may have actually begun at the 'old Mike Young, later Henderson place'. Names connected with this academy: Young, Henderson, Cooper, Evans, and perhaps many more, but at this juncture I can only speculate. Carole Farr Drexel gdrexel1@airmail.net
