This is written in follow up to my original message to the Zeigler web address which is quoted below. I have found (hopefully) the parents of Rachel Jeannette "Nettie" Evans. Her mother was Theresa Zeigler, born 07/27/1844, died 05/17/1919. Her father was James Hezekiah Evans, born 08/03/1847, died 02/11/1918. I would think they were all born in Screven County (Effingham) or close by. They were married 10/26/1866 in Screven County, GA. They are buried in the Sylvania City Cemetery. Theresa's father was Israel Zeigler. I think Rachel Jeannette (Nettie) had a sister by the name of Carrie Zeigler. Any information about her family would be greatly appreciated. Halcyondale is a now defunct town located about 20 miles from Sylvania. Her father was a Zeigler who lived in that area. She married Augustus Rodney Lanier on 10/30/1901, although I have seen a different date for the year. I have heard that her father's family was from Austria, but do not know that as a fact. I believe that Screven County also used to be known as Effingham County. I would appreciate hearing from any of the Zeigler's from that area.
