Hello Scotti, You were kind to respond to my queston regarding the Statesboro Library off the Screven Cty GA list. My plans have changed and I am not able to visit that library this month as I previously planned. So my research from there will have to wait a little longer. I was wondering do you have a wife's name and dates on Elijah Roberts? I wonder if he could be the same as my Eli. You mentioned going to Elijah's cemetery. Since you live near by, I wondered if you are familiar with the Old Union Grove Church cemetery that is on Hwy 21 in Herndon, GA (between Herndon and Midville). Across from William Schley Robert's farm and store (at bottom of hill). It is a very old, broken down cemetery in very poor condition. It is inside an old iron fenced in area - but the fence had been rolled away and weeds had grown up in side the area. There is a big old 2-story farm house across the street from it. My father and mother, Eugene and Betty Roberts, went there about 10-15 years ago with John Spence. That is the grave of my gg grandfather Daniel Roberts and his wife Cassanne Hall Roberts. If you are familiar with this cemetery, do you know of any one related to these Roberts? Who is related to the others in this family plot, would most likely be related to me. The markers that were there were: Daniel W. Roberts Eli Roberts John A. Spence 12-15-1824 - 1837 Sarah Spence B-1820 William Schley Roberts 8-15-1850 - 9-15-1889 Dora Farrow couldn't read dates JW Farrow couldn't read dates Lit son of Elisha and Sally Watkins 1-26-1872 - 4-12-1906 John G. son of GW & Adeline Sherrod 1887 H.W.G. son of GW & Adeline Sherrod 1887-1890 In a different msg, you mentioned that when you were teaching at ECI, you learned the Roberts from Emanuel Cty were orginally from Screven. This was John and Henry Roberts, and they were related to the Oglesby family. Well, my Roberts are also related to Oglesby. William Schley Roberts, 1850-1889, married Mary Ann Oglesby, b1848. Her parents were James O. Jr b1814 and Caroline (last name unknown) Also Sarah Roberts married Woodrow Oglesby in the early 1900's. I have several Og. that married into other families that were connected to my Roberts line. I wonder if this is getting close to a family connection! Anyway, I would like to know more about this John and Henry Roberts. I have often wondered (and had some document that led me to believe, but not prove) that one of my early lines was named John Roberts from Screven Cty.
