Hi list. I was reviewing some Jarrell list postings. I came across one dated 15 August 1999 from JanetW111@aon.com. I wondered if she had more info or anyone else on the list had any info...on the following: WILEY P. JARRELL-first wife Martha Miller WILEY P. JARRELL-second wife MARTHA E. MOORE, b. 30 April 1839 md. 9 March 1880 d. 9 June 1909, buried Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetary, Sylvania. MARTHA E. MOORE JARRELL was aunt to JOHN M. FARR, who erected a monument to his Aunt Martha that marks her grave at Oak Grove. JOHN M. FARR was father to Harry Leon Farr, Earl Farr and Carroll Franklin Farr, Sr. There was an administrator's bond in 19/52, Screven County, GA, dated 21 Feb 1891, which names R.H.FARR as administrator of the estate of LEVENIA E. FARR, and signed by R. H. Farr, Charles H. Moore, and W. J. Moore. Wiley P. Jarrell's farm adjoined the farm of William Michael Henderson in the (then) 35th G. M. District of Screven County, GA, and William Michael Henderson, Captain, 5th GA Calvary, CSA, was the father of ANNIE LAURIE HENDERSON who married JOHN M. FARR. There was, and still is, a really big pond by the name of JARRELL POND that belonged to Wiley P. Jarrell's family. Sherman camped about 1 mile from there during the march to the sea. Wiley's sons, I feel sure, died in the War of Northern Agression. There are many Jarrell family members buried at the Middleground Methodist Church Cemetary not too far from there. All this area is located on/very near the Ogeechee River which is the border for Screven County, GA (on the far southwest side) and Bulloch County, GA (Statesboro, GA). Does anyone have any information about any of this? I would really appreciate any help. Carole Farr Drexel in Ft. Worth PS...John M. Farr, nephew to Martha E. Moore Jarrell, was supposed to have gone to Texas and we wondered if he went with some of his Jarrell relatives. Just a hunch.
