Gerry, You're right, they were the only Kemps in Screven County, but there was (and is) a whole slew of them about 5 miles away, just north of Hiltonia in Burke County and Sardis! This is an extremely old Burke County family, with records as early as 1752. I think that you'd be pleasantly surprised. Happy hunting! Scottie Scott P. S. Alexander Kemp is buried on a hill on the right of Hwy 301N, just before you get to the old town of Jacksonboro. It is an above ground tomb, and he was born in 1798. I believe that he was Solomon's brother.
