Found it while "weeding" out some stacks of neglected papers. I saved this as there is a reference in this material as to some burials, with markers, at the site of the old church. One of them says: Sacred to the Memory of WILLIAM ROUNDTREE who was born on 23 May 1819 Departed this life 20th of May, 1852 Next to this is listed a Calfrey Beville 14 July 1829-20 Oct. 1854 Other surnames in this place are Davis, Stewart, Morgan, Poythress, Jackson, Sowell, Conner, Archer and Best. Can anyone id the William Rountree in this cemetery. I ask because I have some Effingham/Chatham Rountree census records that mention the Roundtree/Beville and Sowell surnames, as being related in some way. One of the later Rountree males here in Effingham married into the Sowell family. And the census records list a Bevil (elderly b. SC) also resideing in a household of a William and C. Rountree. Later dates in the census but can't help ponder over the presence of these three surnames in relationship to one another.
