Hi Barb, I just went back to the site with the 1895 map of Screven Co. and had a look at Burke, Effingham, and adjacent portions of other counties. That whole map has so many errors that I just don't think that it can be trusted for determining the position of any little settlement. In Effingham it has Rincon far out of position relative to Springfield. It also shows Ebenezer Creek connecting with the Little Ogeechee River and running into both the Ogeechee River and the Savannah River. In Jefferson Co. (shown on the Burke Co. map page) it has the town of Stapleton located in two different locales!! There are other communities that appear to be far out of place. I think that it would be very problematic for anyone to base a search for modern remains of 19th century communities based on that map. Dale
