Judy, I don't know if this will help you but if you can find where the oldest wills and estate papers are housed in Effingham County and can take the time to look up COURSEY you might find the father of your Coursey or Grandfather. Also, when I hit a brickwall with my line of Courseys I started with his wife. There appeared to be some controversy over who her father was. I found her father's estate papers and in those it showed where my William A. had been paid his wife share. At least it answered the question of who her father was and that William A. was indeed her husband.. You might have already tried this and if so then sorry for butting in. Nancy
