Hi Claudia, That's the question. Short and sweet - oral history via my late father led me to understand that my great-grandmother Janie Jackson Flythe had been born a 'Kennedy.' This 'Kennedy had supposedly married an Anderson woman. As a part of this oral history - their daughter, Jane Elizabeth born in 1841 was later raised by her Anderson grandparents. However, when Bob Peavy looked into the Anderson connections and found material that indicates that a Caroline M. Anderson married a Canedy... There is a younger son of this couple with a clearly recorded name and age at the 1850 and 1860 censuses. But, a 1850 census showed a nine year old Jane living as a Farmer in a related household (one Anderson family / household [Bob, please step in and correct this if I've gotten this wrong] had its name changed to 'Farmer' with an act of the Georgia Legislature). Later, a 21-year old Jane 'Anderson' did marry a 16 or 17-year old John Jackson in 1862. They has one child and John Jackson died in Atlanta during the Civil War. Later, Janie Jackson married my great-grandfather George Washington Flythe, ancestor of all of the Flythes in Screven Co. The particular identity of the Canedy husband to Caroline M. Anderson is a mystery to me, so far. Do you have any notions about an identity for this individual?
