    3. Hi Robert, The Reddick family isn't the only family from the area surrounding Millhaven and nearby. Early on there were the Braswell, Ellison, Godbee, Herrington, Jones, Kemp, Lovett, McCleland, Mobley, Murray, Oglesby, Paris, Reddick, Royal, Scott and other families in that area from Hiltonia up to Sardia and over to Girard and down to Millhaven. Millhaven Plantation was owned by members of the Seaborn and Augustus S. Jones families from 1795 to 1890 - over three generations. That may be where you want to look for any connection to Millhaven Plantation. Dale E. Reddick ___________________________________ Deborah Byrd wrote: > Happy Thanksgiving ya'll. 1. [GASCREVE] Paris & Reddick land records of Burke & Screven Counties, GA from Georgia Archives online records.
    2. Dale E. Reddick
    3. Hi Folks, Several of us have been researching Reddick origins in Georgia and have noticed a long-term association between the Reddick and Paris (aka Parris) families that resided along and near Brier Creek in Screven & Burke Counties. It now appears that four generations of Reddicks associated with at least three generations of the Paris family. This extends over the period of the 1760s through at least the 1830s. Prior to their appearance along Brier Creek, John Reddick (and family - wife with five children) had acquired land on the Ogeechee River in 1767. The colonial miller Francis Paris, Sr. represented John Reddick then and earlier in 1764 before colonial officials. Then, during the 1780s & '90s we find the four Reddick brothers (Francis, Jacob, Nicholas, & Peter) living near Paris' Mill on Brier Creek. This is the location of present-day Millhaven in the upper part of Screven County. Francis Paris began establishing his mill at old Pine Log Landing on Brier Creek in 1769. Paris called his mill complex "Milltown". Three of the Reddicks owned land along Brier Creek adjacent to the millpond of Francis Paris' mill complex (at least two mills of 400 horsepower - there may have been a third mill). Their lands extended from Screven into Burke County along the creek. In the 1820 census of Burke County the households of Francis Paris, Jr. and John Reddick were very close neighbors. John Reddick was the son of the above-mentioned Nicholas Reddick. In the 1830 census of Burke County the households of Henry A. Paris and Nicholas Reddick were close neighbors. In 1834 Nicholas Reddick served as a Chain Carrier during a survey of 250 acres for Henry A. Paris. Nicholas Reddick was the eldest son of John Reddick and grandson of the earlier Nicholas. I believe that Henry A. Paris was a son Francis Paris, Jr. What follows are the available online land records of those Paris and Reddick folks in Burke & Screven Counties. These cover the years 1787 through 1846. I've even included the online land record for a Reddick Scarborough. Perhaps he was named for one the early Reddicks in the area (I don't know that - he got land on Big Buckhead Creek in Burke Co.). I hope that some of these records prove to be useful to someone. The search engine webpage for the Georgia Archives' "Georgia's Virtual Vault" is found via this URL: http://content.sos.state.ga.us/index.php If you search the contents be sure to try out variant spellings of your surnames. Note that the following records are listed under the surnames Paris, Parris, Redick, & Reddick. You have to check out those spelling variations of you might miss a record. Dale E. 1. Re: [GASCREVE] Looking for Joyner/Joiner Family History
    2. Tom Cooper
    3. Greg, I took a look at the 1850 census for Screven last night and noted that James Joyner and wife Elizabeth were enumerated next to a George Jenkins who was born about 1794 with a wife named Mary. I had seen this before and assumed that this George was Elizabeth's father. Elsewhere in the county in the same census was another George who was a few years younger with a wife named Elizabeth, and it looked to me by some other things that I found that it was this George was the son of Owen. So you think Elizabeth was Owen's daughter, and perhaps one of these George's her brother? James and Elizabeth did name one of their sons Owen, which would make me think there is some sort of connection between Elizabeth Jenkins Joyner and Owen Jenkins. To the Jenkins researcher on the list who asked for help on the Jenkins line, I am sorry to say I just don't know much about them, but like you think all or most of the Jenkins around Screven and Burke probably tie in to one another. Thanks, Tom Today's Topics: 1. Hotchkiss b. 4 Apr 1868 d. 24 Mar 1940. Scottie Scott gave the middle initial. It could have been picked up off of the census as a J instead of an I. I'm contacting you because of the Jenkins connection to your Joyner. I also have a Elizabeth and a George in my line, although it's unlikely they are the same person. My Elizabeth was born about 1801-02? And George Washington Jenkins is listed as being born in 1810.My direct descendant William M. Jinkins was born in 1808. Both a George and William are listed in the 1830 Screven Census with the correct age range. Despite the fact I don't see a direct connection between these two Elizabeths I somehow feel that most, if not all of the Jenkins in Screven County were related one way or another. 1. [GASCREVE] Joyner and Jenkins in Screven and Burke
    2. Tom Cooper
    3. Hey Greg, I think we corresponded a little several years ago, but I don't remember the details. Which one of James Joyner's (1806-1892) childen do you decend from? Do you have anything on his wife, Elizabeth Jenkins Joyner? I believe she was the daughter of a George Jenkins, but it appears there were two George Jenkins in Screven one a son of an Owen Jenkins and the other perhaps a cousin. I would like to connect Elizabeth with her proper parents, brothers and sisters. Thanks for the info. below. I didn't know anything about a Burke County connection, and hadn't come across the name Bazel Joyner. Maybe someone else on the list has something on Bazel and Nancy??? Thanks, Tom Cooper Date: Tue, 13 Nov 2007 09:43:18 EST From: Gjhort45@aol.com Subject: Re: [GASCREVE] Joyner/Joiner To: gascreve@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <ccb.20203c8f.346b1206@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Hey Tom, I am a James Joyner descendant as well. I Have been researching for 20something years and have the same info as you. I have several documents referencing James and Nancy in land transactions in Screven County. Nancy came from Burke County if I recall correctly. Her husband may have been Bazel Joyner, but I have no proof. I suspect James' brothers were Hiram and William. I found the court document charging James and Hiram with inciting a riot against the Jenkins Brothers. Charges were apparently dropped. good luck! Greg W. 2. Deborah, I recently got a new computer, and somehow lost your email address. I want to send you the Scott Family Book, to see if you can post it on the Screven County website. It is 122 pages long, which is pared down from 187 pages by getting rid of extraneous words such as Screven County being repeated over 1500 times. Please advise. Scotty P. S. If anyone would like for me to email you this compilation, send me an email and I'll be glad to send it to you. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
