    1. [GASCREVE] Book or File of Bascom Cemetery Inscriptions Needed
    2. Tom Cooper
    3. Does anyone know if an inventory of the Bascom Cemetery near Hilltonia has been done? If so, where is it available? (I'm hoping someone will tell me it is in a downloadable file!). I would like to get inscriptions for every marked grave in the cemetery. Thanks, Tom Cooper ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! 3. Hi Nan, Well, my gg-grandmother Mary Etta McClellan(d) Sheley re-married to a younger Thomas Barber prior to 1870. In the 1870 census that couple (she was enumerated as 'Marietta') had two young daughters Estill (age 2) and Mary (age 1) living with the five older Sheley children of Richard W. & Mary E. Sheley. Later, I saw some indication that Mary Etta Sheley (as she was later known, with her grave marker at McBride Methodist being inscribed Mary E. Sheley - her married Barber surname seemed to have disappeared) may have had another daughter. I cannot recall her name or immediately find it (she was mentioned in a deed or a probate court document). But, that girl may have been of the right age to have been this Georgia Barber who married in 1893. Just a thought about who Georgia Barber may have been. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: edwinking1 Surnames: Williams Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.screven/238.761/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Have noted the mails on the Williams family in Screven and offer the following for what it is worth..William Williams, his sons Seth and Garrett are shown on the 1820 Bulloch census.David Williams my (g-g-gf)married Mary James in Duplin Co. N.C. on 29 Sep.,1786 and his daughter, Nancy Williams married Willis King in Bulloch County 0n 30 Dec., 1813. William Williams and his sons were from Duplin County, N.C. William and his son David both served in the Revolutionary War and are listed in the book, "Revolutionary War Records of Duplin-Sampson Counties". A Seth Williams is also a Rev.War soldier but I do not know if he is the same Seth. William Williams and all his family apparently migrated to the Screven area after 1806 as William is on an 1806 tax record from Duplin.David Williams and other members of his fmily migrated to Irwin County by 1820 along with Willis King and his wife, Nancy Williams,(on 1820 Irwin census). The! home of David Williams served as the first courthouse in Irwin County when it was established in 1820. Early histories of Irwin have several mentions of David Williams and Willis King. David Williams died in tne 1830's and is buried in Ben Hill County in, I believe, an unmarked grave. I have heard that there is a Rev,War grave marker placed at a church thought to be near David's grave site.Other than Nancy who married my ancestor,I have very little further on the later Williams family. I have info, gained from others,on this Williams family that goes back to 16th century if anyone is interested. 3. Ed, it is always good to see Williams info both before and after their Screven/Bulloch County stays, especially to know about their migrations on down to Irwin County. Do you much info that you would share on your King family, too? Do you have any idea who your Willis King might have been named for?
