    1. Re: [GASCREVE] USHER FAMILY
    2. Lewis, Most of the Ushers of Screven County are buried from North Newington Church Cemetery to Jackson Baptist Church Cemetery going back towards Jacksonboro. Also, many of them migrated to Tattnall County near Reidsville in the late 1890s or early 1900s. The ones that married the Scott brothers (sons of Thomas Henry "Tom" Scott) were grandchildren of Lorenzo Dow Usher. As they were Bob Peavy's granduncles, I am sure that he can shed some light on them for you. Bob, I hope that you don't mind volunteering you? Hope this helps. Happy hunting! Scottie

    2. Gerry, You're right, they were the only Kemps in Screven County, but there was (and is) a whole slew of them about 5 miles away, just north of Hiltonia in Burke County and Sardis! This is an extremely old Burke County family, with records as early as 1752. I think that you'd be pleasantly surprised. Happy hunting! Scottie Scott P. S. Alexander Kemp is buried on a hill on the right of Hwy 301N, just before you get to the old town of Jacksonboro. It is an above ground tomb, and he was born in 1798. I believe that he was Solomon's brother.

    2. Paula, I am a descendant of Mary Ann James and John Alexander Waters Cubbedge, through their daughter, Mary Rebecca "Mossie" Cubbedge Mock. Mossie had sisters named Sarah Frances and Barbara Florence, one of which married John McDaniel Mincey and the other John R. Joyner. Is John Joyner your antecedent? By the way, I have the Cubbedge ascendancy all the way back to 1396, through the efforts of Gordon Carson Cubbedge. Please keep in touch. Scottie Scott

    3. The list is useless without the e-mail address. It would serve no purpose if one needs to look up one. I say that because of past PC crashes. And most of the time we are rushed and don't have the time nor availability to just pull up the site! My original suggestion was to simplify finding eht info and e-mail address of each person on the list. The Dover and Holderness lines have done this method and it has worked quite well. 3. > The list is useless without the e-mail address> I appologize to the list for having involved you in something so useless as the surname name. The address was placed on the site with a link to the mail function to send messages that way. It didn't cross my mind that members would print out the site for storage. Different means of operations. I use a paperless office. I'll adjust it over the next week as I get a little time here and there. Deborah Byrd
